On February 27, 2024, the globally renowned broadband industry event, the Broadband Development Congress (BDC), hosted by the World Broadband Association (WBBA), took place in Barcelona, gathering global cloud and broadband industry partners. The theme of the 2024 Barcelona Broadband Development Congress is "Network Evolution and Technological Transformation of Operators, Leading Broadband Industry Prosperity," which deeply discusses how network operators can reposition and identify key action points during the wave of digital and intelligent transformation. The World Broadband Association (WBBA) was officially established on December 9, 2022, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. WBBA is an NGO and non-profit organization that is global in scope, industry-led, and multilateral, dedicated to aggregating the global cloud and broadband industry chain, bridging the digital divide, and contributing to achieving the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Initially, WBBA had 11 founding members, including China Telecom, Huawei, Nokia, Swisscom, BT, Spark New Zealand, Telkom SA, and research institutions such as Omdia. WBBA has now grown to 75 official members from 31 countries and plans to expand to 150 members across 50 countries by December 2024.
